Patients who have an appendiceal perforation are more unwell than those with uncomplicated appendicitis alone.

Signs associated with perforation include:

  • Tachcardia
  • Pyrexia
  • Signs of peritonitis on clinical exam: i.e. rigidity, absent bowel sounds.
